Description
This position will focus on the execution of projects from design through
commissioning and qualification as required, with a primary focus on
commissioning. Following successful project completion, this position will
transition accountability to operation of the electrical systems that support
the newly commissioned facilities. The senior electrical engineer will be
accountable for:
Project Delivery: including project approach and resource needs, options
analysis, electrical systems and equipment design, engineering document
development, and system ownership through the project delivery phases of plan,
design, procure, construct, commission and qualification for facilities; and
Technical Analysis: including electrical system and technology plant
fits, capacity and equipment utilization, value engineering, sustainable design
(energy efficient), constructability and assessment of applicable new
technologies to balance performance, cost reliability, and maintainability.
Commissioning Accountability: This position will be accountable for the
successful commissioning of the electrical systems.
-Develop the ****ing and commissioning (T&C) strategy. Review and
approve T&C plan.
-Establish electrical system inspection check-list and protocol.
-Evaluate the lifecycle cost for electrical equipment selection.
-Provide general electrical engineering advice and support to project
teams and internal customers as required.
-Lead contracted engineering and commissioning staff.
-Supervise, review and challenge design and optimize electrical systems in
close cooperation with other engineering disciplines and end-user departments
-Support systems qualification according to Chinese/FDA/EMEA requirements
Areas of expertise include systems and equipment for primary
(35KV/10KV/400V), medium and low voltage power service, emergency power and
UPS, lighting, and grounding, as well as interface requirements for fire alarm,
security and voice/data systems.
This position requires coordination of client and/or contract engineering
resources. Facilitating meetings, directing engineering firms and consultants,
field supervision, equipment inspection and start-up, construction trade
coordination, and training of operational staff are often required. Success in
these areas will depend upon the individual’s ability to effectively
communicate, collaborate, and foster positive interactions with team members,
while diligently managing adherence to project scope, budget and schedule.
Develop equipment/systems preventative maintenance plans including the
coordination of annual contract services, ordering of replacement
components/parts, and schedule coordination.
The senior engineer is expected to be an effective communicator of ideas,
project goals and results. With minimal supervision, is expected to make
presentations and updates to senior management.
Operational responsibilities after project hand-over to include,
Hands-on involvement with the troubleshooting, maintenance and operation
of site electrical systems.
Individual will be responsible for electrical system operations, and
preventative maintenance programs.
Evaluation of electrical equipment and system performance through
assessment of equipment and system logs, monitoring reports, and maintenance
program. Develop corrective measures to improve energy efficiency and reduce
maintenance costs.
Job
Requirements:
B.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with 8 or more years
pharmaceutical or related technology experience in industry after receiving
their Bachelor’s degree, at least four of which involved electrical system
design, construction, quality control, and commissioning activities for GMP
facilities or semiconductor industry.
Certified Electrical Engineer (power distribution) is preferred
Champions self-initiated or assigned projects. Justifies project goals to
colleagues. Acts as a mentor for those with similar or less engineering
expertise.
Contributions are integral to the success of both technical and
organizational objectives.
Strong technical leadership, collaboration, and sound business value
based prioritization and problem solving skills.
Experience as electrical lead in the chemical industry.
Technical knowledge regarding the design, operation, preventative
maintenance and trouble-shooting of site utilities is required.
Must be familiar with GB Code relevant to HV electrical design and PSB
authority regulations.
Must be familiar with 35KV station daily operation and maintenance,
including annual ****ing
Technical knowledge in electrical explosion-proof is required.
Must have demonstrated ability to solve certain technical problems and
ability to work independently.
Experience in HV equipment installation, commissioning, trouble-shooting
is required, especially in 35KV power distribution area.
Solid experience with manufacturing industry and support equipment is
essential; working knowledge of process control systems is desired.
Must have excellent organizational, communication, personal work
management and writing skills.
Skilled in reading professional materials
Good listening, speaking and writing English ability
Familiar with computerized systems
Skilled in using Office software, Ex. Word, Excel, Project
